injured reserve for a reason.

So I have been thinking a lot lately about why certain things happen and I've come to realize that people and events come into our lives to teach us a lesson, a purpose. To everything there is a reason and it's up to us to find out what that is.

I'm pretty sure I've just about broke/torn enough body parts in my life to consider living inside a bubble- collarbone, thumb, wrist, 2 ACL surgeries, 2 finger joint surgeries, floating bone had to be removed from my other knee, stress fractures, etc you name it and I've probably done it. I've had mono, I've had the swine flu..come on, seriously? And now I'm about to have surgery on my ankle/foot to repair two tendons/broken bone I tore playing soccer.

Being injured is frustrating because you can't do the things you love to do but being out of sports also makes you realize the importance of the little things. Sometimes we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, rushing through trying to get as many tasks done as we can but it's important to take time to reflect on the gifts you have TODAY. You never know what tomorrow will bring.

So back on the injured list I go. I may not know why I got hurt again, but I do know that this is just a fork in the road and I will make it through because I know God has a plan and his plan is perfect. In the next couple months of recovery, I know there will be hard days ahead but I also know that God wouldn't take me down this road unless he had a purpose.

My challenge to you is that whatever you are facing in life today- know that everything happens for a reason. You may not know why you are where you are or why certain things are going on but know that God would never give you something you couldn't handle. You just have to be willing to listen and hear his voice.

So true.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

How are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

Was learning cursive really necessary?

MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Bad decisions make good stories.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of MS Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my 10 pg technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

Sometimes I'll look down at my watch three consecutive times still not know what time it is.

I'll remember that next time.

Always leave yourself a spare key hidden somewhere in your yard so you don't have to break your window to get back inside.

Don't grab a milk bottle by the top- you might pull it off and spill the milk all over the floor.

You do not have to answer every single question someone asks you about yourself.

Hold onto your diploma after graduation so you don't have to go back looking for it under all the chairs.

Do not pour out your daily contact solution until you know for a fact that your contacts are in your eyes.

Never leave your keys, wallet, or phone unattended...there are bad people out there who will steal these things.

Bring joy wherever you go and joy will find you :)

27 Lessons I've Learned in 27 Years By: Karen

I always want to know more. I want to learn more. I want to do better. I want to be better. I’m not progressing fast enough.

1. The first pancake always turns out badly.

2. You don’t have to get along with everyone, or make everyone like you.

3. Love makes you stupid.

4. You always have at least 2 choices, even if you don’t like your choices.

5. Sometimes even women need to learn to MTFU.

6. Most people operate out of selfish motivations.

7. It’s rarely about you.

8. Soda is evil.

9. It’s okay to break the rules, as long as you are good enough not to get caught, and you aren’t hurting anyone.

10. “Be kinder than necessary ’cause everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.”

11. There’s three sides to every story- his, hers, and the truth.

12. Time doesn’t heal anything- it’s what you do with that time.

13. Complaining and blaming other people doesn’t help anything, and makes you miserable company.

14. Everything in your life is your responsibility.

15. You train people how to treat you.

16. There’s always hope.

17. You can always be grateful for something.

18. If you aren’t making mistakes, you aren’t trying hard enough.

19. You never really become an adult. You just get more responsibility, and become wiser.

20. Showing emotion is not a sign of weakness. Knowing when it is appropriate is a skill.

21. Google can answer anything.

22. Being silly is one of my favorite qualities in a person.

23. Honesty is always the easiest route. Even if it’s not in the short term.

24. You should never stop learning, or trying to be a better person.

25. Worrying is useless, unless it motivates you to take action.

26. When people show you who they are, believe them.

27. There is only fear, and love. And one of them is way more fun.

Learn something new everyday.

1. You know your radio is too loud when an ambulance drives by and you don't even hear it.

2. It's a good idea to check for toilet paper before you go into a stall.

3. When driving in icy weather conditions, be extra careful. Even if you don't see any ice...it could still be there!

4. If a printer is not printing how you would like it to, don't send it again. You may end up with 200 extra pages...

5. It's wise to consult a family member or friend before purchasing an expensive product. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

6. Think before you speak. If you can answer a question on your own, then don't ask it!

7. Enjoy living in the moment, because each day is a gift.

8. Spritze a little lavendar on your pillow before you go to bed and asleep you will fall.

9. Seek first the kingdom of heaven and all shall be added.

10. Find joy in where you are right now in your life because God has you there for a reason.

Ten Rules for Being Human

By: Cherie Carter-Scott

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."

4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

10. You will forget all this.

The Road of Life.

1. Put a chain around a tree to give it iron.

2. Make sure people do not think your pepper spray is a flashlight.

3. When you can't tell if someone recognizes you or not, introduce yourself first.

4. Try Diet Cranberry 5 Calorie Cranberry juice, it's really good!

5. Never ask a policeman if he is sure about his decision. They do not like that.

6. Some locks are really hard to open. Pull down on the lock once you get to the correct combination and that should do the trick.

7. When you're trying to brown chicken, don't move it around.

8. Rice milk tastes interesting.

9. Don't sit in a running car in closed spaces- you will get carbon monoxide poisoning and die.

10. If you get something broken into, don't ask for fingerprints unless you really think you will get something out of that. The black powder is hard to get rid of.

11. You can't make hot tea bags become iced tea bags. It just doesn't work.

12. If your foot really hurts, don't keep running on it. You will pay for it.
